Arrival

I arrived in Kathmandu approximately four hours ago. I was very sore and swollen from traveling and laid down as soon as we got home. For now I will be staying in a room above the Gethsemane House of Prayer. The exhaustion of traveling for 48 hours plus the overstimulation of life in Kathmandu has me feeling pretty overwhelmed. Nevertheless, I am hopeful and excited. Culture shock is already hitting. I am having flashbacks to my first international trip to Brazil as an 18 year old. There is one stark difference between the two: now I am 24 years older and weigh probably twice what I did then. Otherwise, it feels remarkably similar. Super hot, super dirty, very third world.

The rest of my posts are going to hopefully look less like "Jill's Woes of Travelling" and more like the diary of exploring culture. It may be a few days before I post. I appreciate everyone who is praying for me! Your prayers are needed and felt! Until next time, Namaste!

Departure

I am sitting at JKF waiting to board. Nervous. Stomach upset from the nerves. I will feel better once we board.

Prayers for peace over me and my parents are appreciated. In 14 hours I will be in Dubai.

Anthropologists describe your first fieldwork experience as a rite of passage. This certainly feels that way. It will be transformative.

There is so much to see, experience and learn. "Taste and see that the Lord is good!" PS 34:8.

Adventure Awaits!
